The State Senate passed a bill to increase the State Minimum Wage to $7.75 in March 2009 and to $8.25 in March 2010. The Federal Minimum Wage goes to $6.55 in July 2008 and will increase to $7.25 in July 2009. Delaware is one of 27 states that have higher rates the the Federal level.
The bill might meet resistance in House, but backers think they will get done.
Delaware has about 6700 workers that work for minimum wages.
