Laurel's July 4th Celebration
As aways in western Sussex County, the Laurel July 4 celebration will draw crowds. This year the Parade will be on Thursday evening July 3rd. This worked last year as the heat of the day is over. The 4th starts with a 5K race ( I will try it this year, for the first time!). After the race most activities will be held downtown at Janosik Park. There will be a talent show, and two different bands, The Funsters and the Honeycombs. The Band Route One will perform after the parade on Thursday evening. There will be food, fun, and Fireworks the evening of the 4th.
Its worth the trip!!
DNREC Division of fish and wildlife stocked the Nanticoke River with over 500,000 American Shad Fry. Lets bring back the Shad!!
District III 9-10 year old softball all-stars: Laurel 7, Millsboro-Georgetown 1.
Have a Great Holiday!!

Big Brother Wants To Fish With You!
Here we go again. The Federal Government wants to issue a National Fishing License for General Recreational Fishing. They need to know who you are, where you live, where you fish, and your shoe size. WHERE DO WE DRAW THE LINE IN THE SAND!!! They (the Government) will keep the information confidential---HA, HA---Just like the VA.
The Government does not need this information, they can get it from the States--the statistics only.
WE MUST SAY NO NOW---THIS IS NOT A SECURITY ISSUE!!!

Maryland & Delaware Join to Protect the Nanticoke!
Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner along with John Hughes, DNREC Secretary and Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources John Griffin met at Phillips Landing on the Broad Creek to sign a bi-state agreement. This Agreement will ensure a long term stewardship of the Nanticoke River and its watershed. It is a model of interstate cooperation to protect, restore and enhance the Nanticoke River, the most pristine river on Delmarva.
